Effective Non-vanishing for Fano Weighted Complete Intersections
We show that Ambro–Kawamata’s non-vanishing conjecture holds true for a quasi-smooth WCI X which is Fano or Calabi-Yau, i.e. we prove that, if H is an ample Cartier divisor on X , then |H | is not empty. If X is smooth, we further show that the general element of |H | is smooth. We then verify Ambro–Kawamata’s conjecture for any quasi-smooth weighted hypersurface. We also verify Fujita’s freene...
متن کاملVanishing and Codimension Theorems for Complete Toric Varieties
In this article, we prove a vanishing theorem for H(X,OX(−D)) when D is a nef Cartier divisor on a complete toric variety X. The answer depends on the dimension of the polytope associated to D. We then apply this to the homogeneous coordinate ring of X, where we study the codimension in the critical degree of ideals generated by dim(X) + 1 homogeneous elements which don’t vanish simultaneously ...
متن کاملWitten genus and vanishing results on complete intersections
Article history: Received 14 September 2009 Accepted after revision 3 February 2010 Available online 19 February 2010 Presented by Jean-Michel Bismut We construct a mod 2 analogue of the Witten genus for 8k+2 dimensional spin manifolds, as well as modular characteristic numbers for a class of spin manifolds which we call string manifolds. When these spin manifolds are actually spin, one recover...
متن کاملVanishing Theorems on Complete K Ahler Manifolds and Their Applications
Semi-positive line bundles over compact Kahler manifolds have been the focus of studies for decades. Among them, there are several straddling vanishing theorems such as the Kodaira-Nakano Vanishing Theorem, Vesentini-Gigante-Girbau Vanishing Theorems and KawamataViehweg Vanishing Theorem. As a corollary of the above mentioned vanishing theorems one can easily show that a line bundle over compa...
متن کاملVanishing theorems for associative submanifolds
Let M7 a manifold with holonomy in G2, and Y 3 an associative submanifold with boundary in a coassociative submanifold. In [5], the authors proved that MX,Y , the moduli space of its associative deformations with boundary in the fixed X, has finite virtual dimension. Using Bochner’s technique, we give a vanishing theorem that forces MX,Y to be locally smooth. MSC 2000: 53C38 (35J55, 53C21, 58J32).
